Amazon Ads Just Opened a Door Into ChatGPT. Here Is What That Actually Means for Brands.

Amazon Ads Just Opened a Door Into ChatGPT. Here Is What That Actually Means for Brands.

For years, Amazon actively blocked AI platforms – ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini – from accessing its retail ecosystem. On September 10, 2026, that position shifted. Amazon Ads announced a partnership with OpenAI that lets select US advertisers extend their Amazon campaigns directly into ChatGPT.

How It Actually Works

ChatGPT Ads are bought through Amazon DSP and offered as a managed service – Amazon’s team helps set up and optimize campaigns, providing “context hints” to match ads with relevant topics, conversations, and keywords. Ad units appear as text or image placements beneath ChatGPT responses.

Amazon manages campaigns on the buy side. OpenAI’s ad delivery system controls when and where ads appear inside ChatGPT. Select US brands are currently in a pilot. Delta Vacations is among the first confirmed participants. The program is not yet open to all Amazon Ads advertisers.

What This Means for Brands

The immediate practical implication is limited; the pilot is small and managed service only. Most advertisers are not yet eligible.

But the direction is significant. ChatGPT has approximately 900 million weekly active users. They are not passively scrolling; they are actively asking questions, researching products, and making decisions. Ads placed in that context reach a shopper mid-research, not mid-browse.

For brands already running Amazon DSP, ChatGPT represents a logical extension of a full-funnel strategy, reaching shoppers earlier in the decision process before they arrive at Amazon to complete the purchase. Every click still lands on an Amazon product detail page. The transaction stays on Amazon.

The pilot is live. The direction is clear. Brands that start understanding conversational advertising now will be better positioned when the program opens broadly.

Prime Big Deal Days Is October 6-7. Here Is What Brands Need to Know Before the Event Starts.
Amazon confirmed the dates on September 14: Prime Big Deal Days returns October 6-7, 2026 — two days of exclusive deals for Prime members kicking off the fall and holiday shopping season. The event runs across 22 countries, with new deal drops three times daily at midnight, 8 a.m., and 1 p.m. PDT. For brands selling on Amazon, the operational window is already closing. The Deal Submission Deadline Has Passed — But Not Everything Is Closed The extended deal sourcing deadline of September 22 has passed for Best Deals and Lightning Deals. If those are not already submitted and approved, they will not run during the event. What is still available: Prime Exclusive Discounts and Coupons can still be activated closer to the event and remain eligible throughout the window. One pricing detail worth knowing: Prime Big Deal Days promotional prices are excluded from the 30-day and 60-day lookback window used to determine Black Friday Week deal eligibility. You can price aggressively now without affecting your Black Friday Week pricing ceiling. Inventory The FBA inbound cutoff for Prime-badge eligibility was September 9 for EU markets and September 16 for the UK. For US sellers, if inventory is not already at fulfillment centers or in confirmed transit, it will not carry Prime eligibility during the event. If stock is in place, focus now on monitoring levels for your deal ASINs. Running out on day one of a two-day event eliminates day two entirely — and ranking signals from a stockout take weeks to recover. Alexa for Shopping Amazon is positioning Alexa for Shopping as the primary deal navigation tool for this event — shoppers can set deal alerts, check 365-day price history, and enable Auto-Buy at a target price. Listing quality and pricing history are now discovery inputs. A product with thin content or an unfavorable price history is less likely to be surfaced when a shopper asks Alexa for deal recommendations in your category. Advertising Campaigns supporting deal ASINs should already be live. If they are not, launch today — not October 6. Campaigns that start on event day start cold. CPCs will spike during the event — plan budgets based on your expected traffic multiple, not your average weekly spend. Campaigns that exhaust budget on October 6 miss October 7 entirely. Prime Big Deal Days is the opening of a 10-week peak season. Black Friday Week follows, with deal submission closing November 18. October 6 is three weeks away.
