The Amazon marketplace, known for its dynamic and ever-changing nature, presents a fascinating world of opportunities and challenges for sellers and brands. This platform, which started as a relatively open market, has evolved into a complex and competitive arena, demanding continuous adaptation and Amazon e-commerce innovation from its participants.

Since its early days as a burgeoning online marketplace, Amazon has transformed into a global e-commerce powerhouse, reshaping the way products are sold and marketed. Sellers now face an environment where standing out requires not only quality products but also strategic, data-driven approaches and a deep understanding of Amazon e-commerce innovation trends. Your Sponsored Products Campaigns Are Already Running Off Amazon. Here Is What That Means.
Most advertisers did not opt into this. It happened automatically. Off-Amazon Sponsored Products placements are not new - Amazon first extended the format to third-party sites and apps in October 2023, appearing on Pinterest, BuzzFeed, Hearst Newspapers, Raptive, and Ziff Davis titles like Lifehacker and Mashable. What is new in 2026 is the scope of that expansion and, crucially, the controls Amazon has given advertisers to manage it. And now there is a significant addition arriving August 10: Sponsored Products campaigns will begin appearing through creators in the Amazon Influencer Program. Existing campaigns are enrolled by default at their existing bids and budgets, with no advertiser action required. If you have not checked your campaign settings recently, your ads are likely already running in places you may not have planned for. Where Sponsored Products Can Now Appear By default, all Sponsored Products campaigns are opted into off-Amazon placements. Unless you go into campaign settings and change the setting, your SP ads may already be appearing on off-site properties. The current off-Amazon inventory spans premium publisher sites and apps, social platforms including Pinterest and Instagram, and, from August 10 onward, creator content through Amazon's Influencer Program. The commercial context matters here: Amazon reported advertising services revenue of $19.8 billion for Q2 2026, a 26% year-over-year increase, with Sponsored Products named as the largest offering and a key driver of growth. Expanding Sponsored Products inventory off-Amazon scales the supply side of their highest-revenue format without adding congestion to Amazon's own search results pages. Targeting is contextual, not audience-based. The ad placement depends on the nature of each third-party site or app - search-driven platforms like Pinterest align with campaign keyword targeting, while others evaluate page content to determine relevance. Every click, on or off Amazon, leads directly to your product detail page. The Creator Expansion Is Qualitatively Different Publisher inventory is contextual and editorial. Creator content is personal. The endorsement signal attached to a product review or buying guide from an Amazon Influencer Program creator is qualitatively different from a display slot next to an article. That distinction cuts both ways. A brand appearing in a relevant creator's content - a skincare brand surfacing in a beauty creator's buying guide, or a fitness supplement appearing in a sports creator's review content - benefits from the implicit association and higher engagement context. A brand appearing in mismatched creator content pays for clicks in an environment that sends the wrong signal about the product. The automatic enrollment means this is already your situation as of August 10. The question is whether you have set your campaigns up to take advantage of it deliberately, or whether it is running unmanaged in the background. The Controls Available to You Every Sponsored Products campaign now includes a setting called "Settings for ads served off Amazon," giving advertisers a choice between two approaches: Maximize Reach, which prioritizes impressions across off-Amazon placements, or a setting that limits off-Amazon spend. Amazon auto-applied the Maximize Reach option to many existing campaigns. Amazon does not currently allow advertisers to fully opt out of off-site Sponsored Products placements entirely. The two available options are to increase reach or limit off-Amazon spend - there is no complete opt-out. You can, however, adjust the level of off-Amazon exposure per campaign and monitor performance separately to assess whether off-Amazon placements are generating returns worth the spend. Bidding works mostly as expected off-Amazon. Your maximum bid applies everywhere. Dynamic bidding still functions for off-Amazon placements. However, bid adjustments for Top of Search and Product Pages do not apply outside Amazon. If your campaign relies heavily on placement bid adjustments to manage spend, review how that affects your off-Amazon exposure. In June 2026, Amazon also added an off-Amazon spend toggle to Sponsored Products bulksheets, which lets US advertisers change offsite serving settings at scale across multiple campaigns simultaneously - useful for teams managing large campaign portfolios who need to audit and adjust without doing it campaign by campaign. How to Track Off-Amazon Performance Separately Reporting is separate from your standard placement data. You can monitor off-Amazon performance through the Sponsored Products Placement Report, which includes metrics for off-Amazon placements and is accessible through the advertising console and the Ads API via the Placement Classification metric. Pull this report and review it for your top-spend campaigns before drawing any conclusions about campaign efficiency. A campaign showing an acceptable blended ACoS may be performing very differently on Amazon versus off-Amazon, and the split will only be visible in the placement report, not in aggregate campaign metrics. The specific data worth checking: click volume by placement, cost per click off-Amazon versus on-Amazon, attributed sales by placement, and whether any SKUs are generating clicks off-Amazon without corresponding attributed sales. That last pattern - high off-Amazon click volume with low conversion - is the signal to adjust the setting toward limiting off-Amazon exposure for that campaign. What to Do Now Three practical steps worth taking this week. First, open your active Sponsored Products campaigns and check the "Settings for ads served off Amazon" setting for each one. Note which campaigns are set to Maximize Reach versus limited exposure. The default is Maximize Reach - verify this reflects your actual intent for each campaign rather than an automatic enrollment you never reviewed. Second, pull the Sponsored Products Placement Report for the past 30 days and review off-Amazon performance by campaign. If you have been running off-Amazon placements since October 2023 without knowing it, three years of placement data is available. That data tells you whether off-Amazon clicks from your specific campaigns have historically produced attributed sales - or whether they have been consuming budget without measurable return. Third, with creator placements starting August 10, consider whether your listings are ready for the traffic profile that comes from influencer content. If your product detail page has poor images, thin bullet points, few reviews, or no A+ content, the ad will drive clicks but not sales. The listing does not close. You pay for traffic that bounces. Creator audiences engage differently from search audiences - they arrive with context and a degree of endorsement already attached. A listing that converts well from search intent may convert less well from discovery intent if the content is not strong enough to close a shopper who arrives without purchase intent already formed. Off-Amazon Sponsored Products is no longer a niche inventory expansion. It is the default setting on every campaign you run. Managing it deliberately - rather than leaving it on automatic - is the difference between a new reach channel that contributes to performance and a budget drain running in the background without measurement. Amazon AWD Is Coming to Europe on August 20. Here Is What Multi-Country Sellers Need to Know.

Amazon AWD Is Coming to Europe on August 20. Here Is What Multi-Country Sellers Need to Know.
For brands selling across multiple European marketplaces, one of the persistent operational frustrations has been inventory management. FBA storage limits tighten exactly when you need space most - heading into Q4, peak season, or a promotional event. Managing restock timing across Germany, France, Italy, Spain, and the UK separately creates coordination overhead that compounds as catalog size grows. On August 20, 2026, Amazon is addressing that problem directly. AWD is launching in Germany, France, Italy, Spain, and the United Kingdom, bringing flat-rate long-term bulk storage and automated FBA replenishment to European sellers for the first time. AWD has been available in the US since 2022. This is its first expansion outside North America. Inbound shipments will be accepted from August 17. The initial facilities are located in South Yorkshire, England, and North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. With Q4 planning underway and peak season approaching, the timing is deliberate. What AWD Actually Does AWD is an upstream bulk storage layer that sits between your supplier and FBA. You send pallets of inventory to AWD facilities at a lower storage rate than FBA. Amazon holds that inventory and automatically replenishes your FBA stock as it sells. The practical result: you can send larger quantities of inventory into Amazon's European network without bumping into FBA storage limits, and Amazon manages the replenishment flow across European fulfillment centers from the AWD pool automatically. You are not manually monitoring restock levels across five countries - the system does it based on demand signals. Three features define the program: No AWD storage capacity limits - once inventory enters an AWD warehouse, products become immediately searchable and purchasable, which Amazon says reduces stockout rates by 15% compared to FBA-only approaches. Fixed year-round storage rates with no peak season surcharges. FBA storage fees climb significantly from October 15 through January 14. AWD charges the same rate regardless of the time of year, which makes Q4 planning significantly more predictable. Additional discounts on storage and transportation are available when AWD is combined with other Amazon services, including when auto-replenishment is enabled. The Cost Structure AWD Europe fees comprise storage, inbound handling, outbound handling, and transportation costs for inventory moved between AWD and FBA facilities. Costs are calculated by cubic volume, not unit count - lightweight but bulky products cost more than dense, heavy products relative to their value, which matters when you are evaluating which SKUs make sense for AWD. New SKUs shipped via Amazon-managed transportation automatically qualify for discounted rates for the first 90 days. That makes the initial test period meaningfully cheaper than the ongoing rate, which reduces the risk of evaluating the program with a sample shipment before committing significant volume. US sellers who ran AWD during Q4 2025 saw more than 13% more shipped units and a greater than 30% reduction in out-of-stock days during the quarter, according to Amazon's own data. Those numbers reflect the US experience - European performance will depend on how well the replenishment algorithm handles multi-marketplace distribution from day one, which is worth monitoring closely in the first 90 days after launch. What to Check Before August 20 Not every product qualifies for AWD. Before sending inventory, review the AWD Europe program terms and product eligibility rules in Seller Central. Eligibility criteria, carton and pallet requirements, supported origins, and inventory removal options all need to be confirmed before booking the first shipment. VAT compliance is the other pre-launch requirement that trips up multi-country sellers. EU sellers need to confirm German VAT registration, at least one additional VAT registration from France, Italy, Spain, or Poland, and active Pan-EU FBA status. UK sellers need to confirm UK VAT registration and active listings on Amazon.co.uk. Storing or moving inventory through Amazon's European network can create VAT and customs obligations in additional countries - this is a compliance question to confirm with your tax advisor before your first AWD shipment arrives at a European distribution center. The fee schedule, shipment preparation requirements, and replenishment settings are all visible in Seller Central now, ahead of the August 17 inbound opening. Running the cost model on your European SKUs before August - using cubic volume as the unit - is the right way to decide which products to test with and how much inventory to commit initially. Who Should Be Testing This AWD Europe is most immediately relevant for three types of brands. Brands already running Pan-European FBA with significant storage volumes who regularly hit FBA capacity limits during Q4. The fixed-rate, no-capacity-limit structure of AWD directly addresses the constraint that makes European Q4 planning difficult. Brands selling in multiple EU marketplaces who currently manage separate restock timing and inventory positioning per country. AWD's auto-replenishment distributes from a single pool across all five markets - removing the coordination overhead of managing inventory levels in Germany, France, Italy, Spain, and the UK independently. Brands with seasonal spikes that require pre-positioning large volumes ahead of demand. The combination of no storage limits, fixed pricing, and automated replenishment makes AWD particularly well-suited for Q4-heavy businesses that need to position inventory well in advance of peak demand without paying peak FBA storage rates for the weeks the stock is waiting to sell. AWD is not the right fit for every seller. Products that move slowly, or SKUs with uncertain demand, create inventory recovery problems in an upstream storage model. If a product stops selling, the options for moving it out of AWD are more limited than pulling it from a 3PL or your own warehouse. Start with your most predictable, highest-velocity European SKUs and evaluate the program on real replenishment data before committing your full catalog. August 20 is three weeks away. The eligibility review, VAT confirmation, and cost modeling should be happening now. If you want to stay updated on Amazon changes, subscribe to our blog.
